Project TEAL is an initiative of the Treasury Group of Access Bank Plc.
Since 2010, we have decided to take a strategic view with respect to combating the menace of Cervical Cancer in Nigeria. Awareness and public response to cervical cancer is almost non-existent despite the prevalence of this scourge and the availability of a cure.
Our objectives include advocating patients’ access to quality care, regular testing and vaccination to prevent cervical and prostate cancer/HPV disease.
In November 2010, we partnered with The George Kerry Life Foundation to organise an Awareness Walk, a workshop and free testing of female teachers in Eti-Osa LGA, Lagos State.
In 2011, we expanded our reach to female secondary school teachers in Lagos Island and Mainland Districts as well as Local Government workers in Lagos Island.
This year, we seek to involve men in the awareness exercise by conducting screening for Prostate Cancer. Prostate cancer is the second most common cause of death from cancer in men of all ages after lung cancer.
At the Access Bank's CEO Award Ceremony we were recognised as the "Outstanding CSR Initiative of the Year".
